Orlait is a SME with 25 employees that was created in 1994 in Compiègne. The company commercializes low priced and private label consumer milks for Lact’Union, Lorco, Coralis and Candia co-operatives. In 2009, Orlait widened its strategy by creating the low-priced brand « J’aime le lait d’ici ». In the same year Sodiaal became the majority shareholder, increasing the volumes by 50%. To cope with this rise in volume Orlait had to replace the system of sales management that they had been using since 2000 for taking orders and invoicing. In 2010 they put the business out to tender to 6 IT providers and this resulted in them choosing isatech and its Microsoft Dynamics ERP for the Food industry.
The initial challenge was to consolidate all the company’s information in a single system and to generate reporting for all the shareholders. In order to do this the processes and repositories had to be harmonized to obtain fluid information flows between the forecasts, production planning, orders, deliveries and invoicing by EDI.
The integrated ERP deployed by isatech was able to solution Orlait’s problematics and simplify the relations between the company, its suppliers and its customers. Hosted on isatech’s private cloud the infrastructure has meant being able to resist the peaks in activity. Finally, the decision-making tool (BI)which was set up is a real bonus in piloting the company and simplifies exchanges with the shareholders.
A significant return on investment
After 3 years of usage, the structural costs per liter commercialized have been reduced by 30%. The IT system has also meant remaining at a constant headcount, and this despite 50% more business. The initial investment of 350 000 euros has been comfortably amortized by Orlait which reached a turnover of nearly 380 million euros in 2014.
